Our Mission

The Mission of PWdBC is to broadcast an inclusive 24/7 mainstream television channel. The channel will have two functions: to serve as a mainstream media presence for people with disabilities and to offer access into this community to the world at large.

It is our philosophy that these two worlds are actually one world that has been artificially divided by arbitrary barriers. The desire for access and inclusion is a universal, human impulse felt by all people, with or without disabilities.

Our community is comprised of the 54,000,000 Americans with a disability, their families, friends, employers, caregivers, advocacy organizations, service providers, and the US Department of Veteran Affairs, Education, Labor, Social Security, Justice and the FCC.

Our community also includes the 600,000,000 people with disabilities throughout the world and their circle of personal, consumer, and government supports.

Finally, our community includes those who desire access to people with disabilities in order to enjoy their social intercourse, to share in their cultural perspective, to understand their political agenda, and to address their broad general and specific consumer needs.

PWdBC is a means for the economic, cultural, and political empowerment of people with disabilities through ownership, employment, education, entertainment, information, and inclusion in the world's mass media. Only with control does a person or a people have the opportunity to cast their own image and forge their own path. PWdBC will be that control.

PWdBC will broadcast a complete palette of programming, featuring people with disabilities in fully achieved portraits, from all perspectives. Our content will be accessible through our own closed captioning and narration for the vision impaired. Our content will be supported on our web site for people with learning and cognitive disabilities.

We will conduct business in 100% accessible environments. We will be multi-cultural in our content and workforce. People with disabilities will be at our core.
We will also hire people without disabilities.  We will be multicultural in our hiring practices, and we will hire members of the baby boomer generation as well.

We are committed to full employment of people with disabilities in all areas of our workforce. We will hire skilled workers with disabilities. People lacking the skills, but having the talent and the desire, will be hired and trained. It is our hope these employees will be hired away by others allowing us to hire and train more people with disabilities.

PWdBC will empower people with disabilities through employment. That employment will lead to creative expression, to earned income, to better understanding, and to full inclusion.

That is The Mission of PWdBC.
