Mitchell E. Marovitz
Chief Operating Officer

Mitchell E. Marovitz graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana in 1972 where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications. He had a distinguished career in military broadcasting and public affairs, serving as Officer-in-Charge of the American Forces Radio & Television Services’ (AFRTS) Southern European Broadcasting Service in Vicenza, Italy; Chief of the Television/Film Production Branch at the United States Military Academy; and as the Commander of both the Army Broadcasting Service’s Southern Command Network at Fort Clayton, Panama and the American Forces Network-Europe in Frankfurt, Germany. Mitch also represented the Army with the entertainment industry where he supervised Army support for film and television productions including “Clear and Present Danger,” “Renaissance Man,” and “Tom Clancy’s OP Center.” During 1998-1999 Mitch served as Commander/Publisher, European Stars & Stripes.

As the Director, Media Operations, American Forces Information Service during 2000-2002, Mitch managed internal newsgathering and dissemination efforts for the Department of Defense. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, Mitch also served as deputy special assistant for entertainment media, representing the department with the entertainment industry.

Upon retiring from the Army in 2002, Mitch assumed the duties of Director of Entertainment at the USO. There, he instituted a modern, integrated management system, created a national show troupe touring company and instituted a celebrity appearance program at bases inside the U.S. Mitch is currently a media and public relations consultant for an international management services consulting firm.

Mitch received his Masters in instructional design, development and evaluation from Syracuse University in 1987 and his Ph.D. in 1994. He is also a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
