The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the country's largest cross-disability membership organization, organizes the disability community to be a powerful voice for political, economic and social change. Founded in 1995 to help unite the diverse community of people with disabilities, including family, friends and supporters, AAPD works to implement goalsof the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The American Council of The Blind (ACB)

ACB is the nation's leading membership organization of blind and visually impaired people founded in 1961, with membership in the tens of thousands. The majority of its members belong to one or more of its 71 affiliated organizations. There are also members-at-large. Membership is not limited to blind or visually impaired individuals. Legal blindness is a requirement to serve on the ACB Board of Directors (with the exception of the Secretary and Treasurer).

The Association of Self-Advocates of North Carolina (ASANC)

ASANC is a statewide organization advocating for the rights of people with disabilities in work, recreation and the community. They have an active membership of 1,200 members and their families.

The Connecticut Parent Advocacy Center (CPAC)

The Connecticut Parent Advocacy Center is a nonprofit organization offering information and support to CT families of children with any disability or chronic illness, birth to 26.

The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL)

CQL plays an international leadership role in the definition, measurement, and improvement of the quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and people with mental illness impacting directly on the lives of over 50,000 people.

Leaps of Faith Disabled Waterskiers Club

The Leaps of Faith Disabled Waterskiers club is a non-profit organization staffed by a group of over 50 volunteers, bringing water skiing into the lives of children and adults with disabilities to build lasting confidence and fulfillment. In addition, disabled waterskiers are trained to compete on both a national and an international level.

National Spinal Cord Injury Association (NSCIA)

NSCIA enables people with spinal cord injury and disease (SCI/D) to achieve their highest level of independence, health, and quality of life. It has 18,000 members. Its constituents are over one million Americans with spinal cord injuries and diseases and their families, medical, service and equipment providers and others with an interest in SCI/D.
